Weekly Faves 8 April 2016
Hi Weekly Favers & Welcome!
Our first ever Weekly Faves newsletter! Exciting! This week is been pretty hectic on our side! Launching an e-shop is quite something. Lots of brainstorming, meetings, errands and lists to draw! We’re also looking forward to the next few days and are thrilled to be online at last! As time flies much more that we’d like to and we’re trying to make the most of each day, our 5 Weekly Faves – you’ll see – are clearly inspired by our current frenetic lifestyle. Now, on to the favorites.
♥ Fave Blogpost ♥
We just told you – it’s all about productivity these days at Maydenn so we really enjoyed reading Tamira Jarrel’s blogpost Setting yourself up for a productive day. Straightforward and easy tips to implement in our crazy stressful worklife! Even more useful we find for those of us working from home. We know how this can be challenging sometimes. Always something to distract us from our priorities. This is also a chance for us to present you Tamira’s amazing lifestyle blog.
♥ Fave Song ♥
A British artist we’ve discovered not so long ago, Lianne La Havas. Do you know her? We’re absolutely in love with her ethereal voice and her music style and we can’t just stop listening to her song Green and Gold, from her second studio album Blood. This song is about recalling Lianne’s childhood identity crisis, where she’s coming with answers relating to the colours of her mother’s Jamaican flag, her Greek father and her London upbringing. The album itself is seamless, and you get this feeling songs flow into one another with fluidity and serenity. We’re totally sold!
♥ Fave Trend ♥
We love the 90’s and are thrilled that this fashion accessory trend is back – the earcuff! – especially when combined with the mismatched earring mania that’s been on for a while already! Beware people, there’s a big focus on accessorizing your pretty little ears. The happy news for the less daring of us, earcuffs do not require ear piercing! You can pretty much find any styles these days, either very minimalistic or on the contrary very statement-ish. (Pics from Pinterest)
♥ Fave Quote ♥
We like planning and organising and know where we’re going. That’s just how the human brain likes to work. Yet, sometimes, it’s impossible to figure it all out and we’ve all been striving with this bound to happen fact of life one day, don’t we all agree? It’s rather frightening to move forward when you just don’t know yourself where you’re heading to or generally, as the quote rightly says, haven’t all figured it out. The best thing we’ve learnt these days is to let go of things. You can’t figure everything out from the start and you can’t control everything that’s happening around you so the only good thing you can do is move forward, take your chance, try your luck, and embrace what’s coming to you along your journey. In short, don’t let the little unforseeable things stop you from achieving your dreams or simply who you want to be!
♥ Fave Recipe ♥
It’s not always easy to eat proper healthy food when your work life is unbalanced. We’re so stressed with work that we find little time to devote to preparing ourselves food that our body needs to keep up the intense rythm. Even worse, we tend to indulge in an unbalanced, too-sweet, too-salty, too-fatty diet, that’s gets all our energy! So, we’ve been testing a few healthy – yet super delicious – food recipes that do not require much prep time. And the winner above all is the noodle pot – “an instant hot dish to see you through working week lunches – no microwave needed. If it’s a comforting bowl of goodness that you’re after, then all you need is 10 minutes to throw any leftover veggies, coleslaw or cooked quinoa into a heatproof jar before you leave for work or do it the night before. Come lunchtime, just add boiling water and wait 5 minutes for the magic to happen”. We absolutely love the idea! Easy & fast to prepare and you can bring it to the office very easily as you just need to add boiling water for cooking. It’s brilliant! And the best of all, you can play with ingredients as much as you want to so that you never feel like you’re eating the same thing everyday. Again, brilliant! To test a recipe, we invite you to read the post of one of our favorite bloggers, Deliciously Ella.
A beautiful week from your Maydenn team ♥
